On October 12, 2023, at the BRaIn Laboratories Complex located at Czechosłowacka Street 4 in Łódź, an orientation day was held for first-year doctoral students of the International Doctoral School. During the event, the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Professor Dr. Lucyna Woźniak, and the Director of the IDS, Professor Dr. Anna Woźniacka, welcomed the students, discussing the key objectives that should be achieved during their stay in the International Doctoral School (in alignment with the university’s strategy). They also provided essential information regarding the education at IDS.
Deputy Director of the Office of Science, Strategy, and Development, Aneta Andrzejczyk, familiarized the students with various project opportunities. Additionally, Ms. Gracja Mecwaldowska-Domańska, the Head of the International Cooperation Department, and Ms. Katarzyna Everson, the Specialist for International Student and Staff Exchange, discussed the possibilities of overseas research activities, including the Erasmus program and scholarships.
Following this, the Chairman of the Doctoral Student Council of the Medical University of Łódź, Dr. Piotr Kamola, presented vital information from the perspective of the student council, providing valuable guidance on managing one’s work as a doctoral student. He also encouraged active participation in all doctoral initiatives, both scientific and socio-cultural.
As the entire meeting took place within the BRaIn Laboratories Complex, Professor Dr. Agnieszka Piastowska-Ciesielska, the Head of the BRaIn Laboratories, explained the scientific research conducted in this interdisciplinary research center.
At the end of the meeting, in addition to the formal presentation of doctoral ID cards and welcome packages from UMED, the doctoral students had the opportunity to tour the BRaIn Laboratories complex.
