On October 11, 2024, an organizational day was held for first-year PhD students of the International Doctoral School and the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine at the BRaIn Laboratory Complex, located at Czechosłowacka Street 4 in Łódź.
During the meeting, the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Agnieszka Piastowska-Ciesielska, MD, PhD, along with the Directors of the Doctoral Schools: Dr. Tomasz Boczek, MD, PhD (International Doctoral School) and Prof. Jakub Fichna, MD, PhD (Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine), welcomed the PhD students. They discussed the main objectives that should be achieved during their studies at the Doctoral School, taking into account the University’s strategy, and outlined the implementation of the training program, highlighting key reporting and evaluation points.
Aneta Andrzejczyk, MA, Deputy Director of the Office of Science, Strategy, and Development, presented funding sources for international activities and explained the benefits of applying for the MSCA PF project. Dr. Paulina Hejduk, Head of the Science Support Center, introduced the financial support opportunities available for PhD students through UMED and NCN (National Science Center). Gracja Mecwaldowska-Domańska, MA, Head of the International Cooperation Department, spoke about travel opportunities related to doctoral projects and the associated funding. The President of the PhD Student Council at the Medical University of Łódź, Dr. Piotr Kamola, encouraged the PhD students to actively participate in doctoral initiatives and engage in social and cultural activities.
The meeting concluded with a formal presentation of PhD student ID cards and UMED welcome packages by the Directors of the Doctoral Schools.
The entire event took place at the BRaIn Laboratory Complex, a facility that fosters interdisciplinary research teams. On this day, the PhD students had the opportunity to explore the infrastructure provided by the BRaIn Laboratories.
