The International Doctoral School of Medical University of Lodz offers its students a diverse selection of scientific issues in the discipline of health sciences. Doctoral dissertation topics are multidisciplinary and they encompass aspects of broadly understood public health, dietetics, physical therapy, nursing and midwifery with elements of senior health care and emergency medicine. The Faculty of Health Sciences is engaged in research in basic sciences, epidemiology, prevention of civilisation diseases, management and marketing in health care, biochemical properties of food products, lifestyle medicine and the impact of physical activity, eating habits and addictions on various aspects of human health.
Physiotherapy graduates are given an opportunity to acquire competence in the assessment of patient’s functioning profile and making diagnostic and therapeutic decisions using the latest methods of therapeutic evaluation. The Division of Nursing and Midwifery of the Faculty of Health Sciences offers our students a modern and rapidly developing workshop for scientific activities. The research outcomes include the isolation of the issues that are of particular importance for the organisation health care services for patients in various age groups and consequent design of educational and professional guidelines for nursing and midwifery specialists.
Analyses carried out in seniors are particularly valuable and relevant elements of current research as they lead to our comprehension of specific mechanisms of the ageing process and designing more effective intervention programmes towards, so called, successful ageing.
Comprehensive study curriculum at the International Doctoral School of Medical University of Lodz enables students to better understand evidence-based medicine and broaden their methodological skills. Doctoral students can also deepen their knowledge and hone their skills in proper research design, data obtaining, appropriate statistical methods selection, verification of the methods effectiveness and the outcomes presentation. By their involvement in teaching activities, doctoral students learn the specificity of the academic teacher’s job and they can master new multimedia communication techniques.
