Boloz-Kulesza Trust Fund Scholarship
The Boloz-Kulesza Trust Fund was established some years ago by Mrs B H Kulesza and her family in memory of the late Dr Władysław Kulesza, who was a graduate of the Polish School of Medicine. The Trust makes monies available each year to provide scholarships for Polish doctors.
Purpose and Aims of the scholarship programme.
The scholarship is to enable suitably experienced and qualified young medical scientists to
- undertake a period of further study or research in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine in Edinburgh
- use their new-found knowledge and skills to further develop and enrich Polish medicine and contribute positively to the healthcare of the Polish Nation.
Eligibility: Applicants must normally be
- graduates of Polish Medical Universities in Poland (normally medically qualified);
- normally within 10 years of obtaining their Dyplom Lekarza (MB ChB equivalent);
- committed to the development of research and expertise in their particular field of practice and
- one of the main authors of at least one scientific publication
- be able to demonstrate adequate mastery of the English language either by a good pass (Band 7.0 or above in the IELTS examination or its equivalent in another externally validated language test accepted by the College of Medicine). If a degree programme is being undertaken, then the applicant must meet the language requirements for the course. Candidates should note that the certificate must be dated within 2 years of the start date of the proposed course.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

- Application procedure:
Applicants should provide the following documents:
- An up-to-date CV. This should include sufficient information about their roles and responsibilities and achievements to date to allow the selection committee to assess their application. A list comprising the posts undertaken and the respective dates is not acceptable.
- A verified copy of their medical / equivalent diploma;
- Evidence of their mastery of English – verified copy of the appropriate externally validated certificate (eg IELTS, TOEFL etc) at or above the stipulated grade – see eligibility criteria;
- An abstract of a publication of which they are one of the main authors;
- A letter confirming that they have the support of their Head of Department in undertaking the proposed activity;
- A personal statement containing the following:
- a short explanation of why they would like to undertake the course/ programme of study/ programme of visits and how it is likely to benefit them personally and their institution.
- that they have made themselves familiar with the course web- based information and that they will be able to meet the demands that the programme will make on them personally
- that they are not currently studying for a higher degree at their parent institution and will not be so engaged for the duration of the course
- that they will provide a short interim report at the end of each academic year and a final report of their activities as a scholar within 1 month of finishing the course and receiving permission to graduate;
